Opera’s Most Romantic Arias and Duets-Part II-Romeo and Juliet

Dave Shafer, a self-professed opera nut and teacher at Lifetime Learners, presents this 3-part series on Opera. Part II covers Romeo and Juliet – it doesn’t get any better than this: young lovers, instant attraction, and heart throbbing singing in Gounod’s opera. The young Roberto Alagna is the perfect Romeo.  The sets, the acting, the glorious romantic music that would stir the soul of a statue, it’s all here in one of the best opera videos ever made. This will take up the whole class and our excerpts will amount to about half of this wonderful opera.
