Poetry in Motion: Bridging the Gap
Now through November 7
Teens in grades 7 – 12 are invited to submit original poetry which will culminate in a two-performance poetry event in March 2011 centered on the theme of examining and understanding differences and the ways to bring them together. Topics can focus on age, gender, socio-economic, technological, religious, cultural, ethnicity and more. New Ways to Connect with Customers: The Power of E-Mail

A series of programs to acquaint and update community businesses with the latest technology to promote their business is being offered through joint sponsorship by the the Wilton Chamber of Commerce and the Wilton Library. Each program will feature a speaker for approximately one hour, followed by a Q&A.
Today’s program is The Power of Email and Social Media Marketing, presented by Corissa St. Laurent of Constant Contact. If you are a busy professional, business owner, or person looking to increase the sales, participation, awareness and impact of your business, organization, or group, then this seminar is for you! Come learn how effective communication, targeted messaging, and appropriate interaction can be accomplished through the powerful and cost-effective tools of email and social media. An integrated strategy can help move your business forward, connecting you deeply to your customers, clients and members, and more broadly to new prospects. First, we will cover the best practices of email marketing and how to use it in your business planning and strategy to achieve specific goals. We’ll also discuss it in the context of social media, so you know how to best leverage these powerful tools for your organization. Let the power of email and social media marketing grow your organization to new heights!

Wonderful Ones and Twos with Caregivers
Tuesday, October 12, 10:15-10:45 am
This program is a sharing time for 1 and 2 year olds and their caregivers. The emphasis is on books, with some songs and puzzles. 8-week program. No registration is required.

Look, Listen and Learn
Tuesday, October 12, 11-11:30 am
For 3 and 4 years olds with parent/caregiver. By interacting with stories, singing songs and acting out finger plays and rhymes, children in this program gain pre-reading skills and learn how to participate in a group setting. 8-week program. No registration is required.

Literary Littles
Tuesday, October 12, 2:15-3 pm
For independent listeners ages 4-6 years. Story time that provides children with experiences that enrich early literacy. No registration is required. 8-week program.

Candidates Forum: State House of Representatives
Tuesday, October 12, 7-9 pm
The Wilton League of Women Voters, the Wilton Library, and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce co-sponsor a Q&A session with the candidates for the State House of Representatives. The candidates are: Peggy Reeves (Democrat) and Gail Lavielle (Republican). This not a debate; it is a facilitated Q&A, providing an opportunity for the audience to ask questions of the candidates and for the candidates to differentiate themselves through their responses. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour and the candidates will begin the moderated question and answer session at 7 p.m. Registration encouraged.

Rick Riordan reads from his new book – and has a very special announcement. The Lost Hero is book one of Riordan’s new series The Heroes of Olympus. Three lucky participants will win copies of the new book! This program is for children ages 6 and up with caregivers in the building. Registration required as space is limited.
