Poetry in Motion: Bridging the Gap
Now through November 7
Teens in grades 7 – 12 are invited to submit original poetry which will culminate in a two-performance poetry event in March 2011 centered on the theme of examining and understanding differences and the ways to bring them together. Topics can focus on age, gender, socio-economic, technological, religious, cultural, ethnicity and more. Program is sponsored by Wilton Library with private funding from generous donors.

Hazardous Materials and Used Book Collection Day
Saturday, October 30, 9 am-3 pm
Wilton Library benefits by collecting gently-used books at Miller parking lot. Bring used books, videos, DVDs, CDs to the library’s truck. Please no condensed books or magazines. Hazardous materials also collected at Miller/Driscoll that day. See town website for information on Hazardous Materials collection.

Genealogy Workshop
Saturday, October 30, 10-noon
Jolene Mullen is a professional researcher specializing in lineage research for heritage societies. In this workshop, she will teach how to research your ancestors using software available without charge, either on Internet websites free to the public, or on websites available through the library. Registration suggested. Donations will benefit both the DAR Scholarship Fund and Wilton Library.

FeralCare Cat Adoption Bus Comes to Wilton Library
Saturday, October 30 , 11 am-3 pm
FeralCare, a local non-profit 501(c)3 organization with volunteers and North Shore Animal League are teaming together to bring adoptable cats to Wilton in a bus that will be stationed in Wilton Library’s parking lot. FeralCare will check references before releasing a cat to an adoptive home.

AARP Driver Safety Class-Session I
Saturday, October 30, 12:30-4:30 pm
The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s first and largest classroom driver safety course designed especially for drivers age 50 and older. The two-part, eight hour course covers the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time associated with ageing and provides practical techniques on how to adjust to these changes. There are no written or driving tests-classroom only. Session II will be held on November 6, 2010. Registration required. Program cost for both sessions: $12 for AARP members; $14 for non-members. Bring check or cash only to the first session.

The Haunted Library
Saturday, October 30, 8-9:30 pm
Children ages 6-10 are invited to join in the spooky, spine tingling after-hours library experience. Face your fears as you wander through the halls and stacks never knowing what lies ahead. Snacks and games will also be available. No registration, caregivers must remain in the building. $5 per child at the door. Sponsored by the Coyle Family Young Readers Fund.
