ESL Classes

Mondays and Wednesdays, September 20 through December 22, 9:30–11:30 am
No session Monday, October 11.
Twice-weekly classes in English as a Second Language will be presented on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9/20 – 12/22 at the Wilton Library by Westport Continuing Education, for both Wilton residents and those in surrounding communities. The class is for students at the intermediate to advanced level. Class size is limited and will be determined by Placement Testing. This test to enter the class will be conducted on September 13 from 10 – noon at the library. No registration is necessary to take the test – just walk in.
Note: Placement testing will also be held on Monday, September 13 and Thursday, September 16 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Westport Continuing Education, Staples High School, 70 North Ave, Westport.

Writers WorkshopWilton Up Close—Photo/Writing Experience

Tuesday, 6-7:30 pm
REGISTRATION FULL! A photography and writing project for up to 25 students in grades 8 through 12 which will take place over two months for a total of approximately 16 hours on five different dates.
The dates are:

  • 9/28 – Kick Off
  • 10/5 – Photo/Writing
  • 10/19 – Photo/Writing
  • 10/26 – Photo/Writing
  • 11/10 – Selection of Photos

The students will be working with professional and award winning photographer, Daryl Hawk. He will help them get to the heart of the program – to unplug, slow down and explore the everyday landscape. To open their minds to discover what is right at their finger tips but see it in a way they have never seen before. They will capture these moments and pictures in photographs and writing. The project will conclude with a photographic and journalistic exhibit to share with the community, during Jan./Feb.

There will be a charge of $40. per student to cover the cost of framing three photographs for each student. The sign-up deadline is Friday Sept. 17th.
