“Plant the Seed and Read!”
Summer Reading Kick-Off at Ambler Farm
Thursday, June 23, 2-4 pm
Families are invited to join the library at Ambler Farm any time between 2-4 pm for our annual summer reading program kick-off! This year’s theme is “Plant the Seed and Read!” At the farm, kids can register for our reading program, learn about our new Read to Feed program through Heifer International, meet the animals, tour the garden, and take a hayride around the farm. This is sure to be a great time for all. Don’t forget your cameras! No registration. This program is sponsored by Wilton Library and Ambler Farm.

American Red Cross Babysitting Training Part 2

Thursday, June 23, 2-5 pm
Two-day workshop conducted by the Red Cross for students ages 11-15. Upon completion of the course, all students will receive a babysitting certification. Advanced registration and payment are required. Fee is $75 due before class. To register, call Susan Lauricella at 203-762-3950, ext. 243. (Registration cannot be done online.) Once placed on the list, the patron must send a $75 check made out to the Wilton Library to the attention of Susan Lauricella in order to hold the spot. Maximum of 12 per class. Students should bring drinks &/or snacks to the class.

Children’s Beginner Chess
Thursday, June 23, 4-5 pm
Children in grades 1-7 are invited to join the Children’s Library Chess Club instructed by Christopher Potts. In this program, those brand new to chess will learn: the history and rules of the game; basic checkmate themes and patterns, basic strategy and tactics. Students will play games and put the lessons into practice. Program fee is $60 per student for all six meetings, for children in grades 1-7. In-person registration is required, payment due at time of registration.

Children’s Advanced Chess
Thursday, June 23, 5-6 pm
Children in grades 3-7 are invited to join the Children’s Library Chess Club instructed by Christopher Potts. In this program, more experienced players will: review the basics, learn more advanced strategies and tactics, learn optimal opening and endgame play, gain an appreciation for the vital importance of making and carrying out sound plans. Students will play games and put the lessons into practice. Program fee is $60 per student for all six meetings, for children in grades 3-7. In-person registration is required, payment due at time of registration.
