When Legends Come to Life Exhibition

Enjoy an exhibition of photographs by Vanessa Smith of horses and riders, paired with quotations from world-famous books, highlighting those published before 1923. Ms. Smith teaches equine photography and creative writing for horse lovers. The exhibition has been organized specifically to tour schools and libraries. Exhibit runs through Thursday, September 29.

In POISONED – The True Story of the Deadly E. Coli Outbreak That Changed the Way Americans Eat, Jeff Benedict delivers a jarringly candid narrative of the fast-moving E. coli disaster in 1993. He explores victims and the culprits, from the families affected to the Jack in the Box executives. Jeff Benedict is an award-winning writer and is considered one of America’s top investigative journalists. He has published nine critically acclaimed books and is a columnist and feature writer for SI.com and a contributor to Sports Illustrated. His essays and articles have also appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times, and the Hartford Courant. He is a Distinguished Professor of English at Southern Virginia University, where he teaches Writing and Mass Media, a course he designed. Q&A following talk.
