The Literary Horse:
When Legends Come to Life Exhibition
Tuesday, August 30 through Thursday, September 29
Enjoy an exhibition of photographs by Vanessa Smith of horses and riders, paired with quotations from world-famous books, highlighting those published before 1923. Ms. Smith teaches equine photography and creative writing for horse lovers. The exhibition has been organized specifically to tour schools and libraries. Exhibit runs through Thursday, September 29.

Wilton Garden Club’s 90th Anniversary
Flower Show: Friends, Fun and Flowers
Thursday, September 15 through Saturday, September 17, Thursday, 2-8 pm; Friday, 10-6; Saturday, 10-5
The Wilton Garden Club celebrates its 90th anniversary flower show, “Friends, Fun and Flowers.” This show is a peek into the Club from its beginning in 1921 through today. From the design section of the show entitled “Designing Women,” to the plant specimens in the horticultural section, to the educational exhibits showing its support of education, civic involvement and conservation-the Club’s three major goals, there is something for everyone. The Seniors Garden Therapy Group (at Comstock) and the Girl Scouts are excited to be part of the flower show as well representing beneficiaries of the outreach program. There are free, scheduled lectures and demonstrations presented by the Club members on Friday and Saturday (September 16 and 17) during the flower show. Please check the schedule and register separately for each lecture/demonstration.

Children’s Beginner Chess

Thursday, September 15 through November 10, 4-5 pm
Children in grades 1-7 are invited to join the Children’s Library Chess Club instructed by Christopher Potts. In this program, those brand new to chess will learn: the history and rules of the game; basic checkmate themes and patterns, basic strategy and tactics. Students will play games and put the lessons into practice. Program fee is $80 per student for all eight sessions (September 15, 22, October 6, 13, 20, 27, Nov. 3, and 10). There is no session on September 29. In-person registration is required, payment due at time of registration.

Mythology Club for Kids
Thursday, September 15, 6:30-7:30 pm
Children in grades 3-5 are invited to join us for this exciting new book club! Each month we will read a book on a mythological theme and discuss it. Snacks will be provided and an activity or craft will be made. The book for the month of September is The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan and there will be activities about the Greek Gods. A copy of Riordan’s latest novel, The Son of Neptune, will be raffled off for pick-up on October 4. Caregivers must remain in the building for children under 12. Registration required. Sponsored by the Sherman Family Fund.
