The Literary Horse:
When Legends Come to Life Exhibition
Tuesday, August 30 through Thursday, September 29
Enjoy an exhibition of photographs by Vanessa Smith of horses and riders, paired with quotations from world-famous books, highlighting those published before 1923. Ms. Smith teaches equine photography and creative writing for horse lovers. The exhibition has been organized specifically to tour schools and libraries. Exhibit runs through Thursday, September 29.

Literary Littles
Monday, September 12 through October 24, 2:15-3 pm
For independent listeners ages 4-6 years. Story time that provides children with experiences that enrich early literacy with stories, short films, songs and crafts. This program repeats on Mondays through 10/24. Please note: there is no session on 10/10/11. No registration.

Weir Farm Artist-in-Residence Exhibition/Reception
Erica Harney
Monday, September 26, 6-7:30 pm
September brings Erica Harney to the Weir Farm artist in residency program. In addition to independent studio work, Harney has worked collaboratively with visual artists, musicians, writers, and choreographers. April 2011 welcomed her first-ever live drawing performance at the Pennsylvania State University, in tandem with musicians D. John Lemke and Jake Sustaita. This summer she begins a collaborative literary project with notable poet Keetje Kuipers. Erica Harney holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Magna Cum Laude (2006), and an MFA in Drawing and Painting from The Pennsylvania State University. She has also studied at the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. Harney currently lives in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, and is a Visiting Instructor of Art at The Pennsylvania State University’s main campus at University Park. Co-sponsored by Weir Farm Art Center and Weir Farm National Historic Site and presented by Wilton Library. Registration suggested.

Good Reads, Great Kids
Monday, September 26, 6:15-7 pm
Children in grades 2 and 3 and their parents will have the opportunity to meet and discuss books as a group. For this session children are invited to bring a book that they have read recently to talk about in this group setting. In addition to personal selections, we will all discuss the book Flight of the Phoenix by R.L. LeFevers. Please note grade change to Grades 2 and 3. Parents and guardians must be present. Sponsored by the Sherman Family Fund. Registration required.
