Optimizing Your Website and Investment-Google Analytics and SEO

Three-part series: 10/12- Websites 3.0-Your 24 Hour Business; 10/26-Website Marketing Strategies & Social Media Integration; and 11/9-Optimizing Your Website and Investment-Google Analytics and SEO. This informative session will discuss the next generation of websites and the ideas businesses are putting together to generate more revenue. Discussion of the new trends and upcoming technologies to connect with customers. Outline the website basics, ecommerce integration, design, services vs. shipping challenges and next generation planning for web 3.0. First session presented by Pam Barnet, lead architect and developer for Barnet Associates LLC’s technical and client delivery solutions. Twice-weekly classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages continues on Mondays and Wednesdays until December 21 at the Wilton Library by Westport Continuing Education. Testing and registration required.

Children ages 3 -5 are invited to this tech-savvy story program. Parents and children can learn how an iPad can support literacy with young children. Using technology to reinforce reading concepts has been shown to have many benefits. Traditional stories will be read and accompanied by an interactive iPad application shown on our projection system. This is a fun, interactive program the kids will be sure to love! No registration. Caregivers must be present.

Board of Finance Meeting with the Public
Wednesday, November 9, 12:30–1:30 pm
The Board of Finance invites the public to an informational meeting where members of the Board will present an overview of the rationale for the proposed mill rate target for the 2013 Town budget. Topics include the financial profile of both the Wilton taxpayers and the financial position of the Town. Pre-meeting for those who are unfamiliar with the budget or for those looking for a refresher on how the Town’s Mill Rate is developed takes place from 12-12:20 pm The Board welcomes questions and comments. Wednesday, November 9th at 12:30 pm and Monday, November 14th at 7:30 pm. No registration.

Lego Club
Wednesday, November 2, 9, 16 & 30, 4-5 pm
Kids in grades 3 and up are invited to join this weekly Lego® Club. Each session will be based on a new theme such as castles, vehicles, towers and more. Children will learn about the theme through stories and non-fiction books and then create a Lego masterpiece from the library’s Lego collection. A great time for all! There are 20 spots available for this program on a first come first serve basis. Tickets will be passed out at the Children’s reference desk starting at 3:45 pm the day of the program each week. This program runs for 4 sessions in November; no session 11/23. Sponsored by the Coyle Family Young Readers Fund.

Fight Chronic Disease with Healthier Food Choices

Research says that most chronic disease and illnesses are created by unhealthful lifestyles. Dr. Robert Zembroski, director of the Darien Center for Integrative Medicine, discusses the five major triggers for the development of chronic disease. Participants will discover the three foods that cause chronic disease to persist, and will learn about the nutrients proven to help prevent their return. A graduate of the University of Connecticut and the New York Chiropractic College, Dr. Z is a chiropractic neurologist certified by the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. Dr. Z will hand out some healthful holiday alternatives and recipes at the lecture.
