Drop-in Thanksgiving Crafts

Children of all ages can stop by during regular library hours and make a Thanksgiving-themed craft to take home. No registration, made possible by the Coyle Family Young Readers Fund.

Tales to Tails

Saturday, November 19, 11-noon
ROAR’s (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dog Program will be bringing therapy dogs to the library for children to read to them. The use of trained therapy dogs in reading programs can result in children who feel comfortable reading out loud, read more often, attempt more difficult books, and actually look forward to reading. Children must read independently to participate in this program. Registration is required.

Thanksgiving Story Time

Children ages 4-7 are invited to join us for a fun, Thanksgiving themed story time. Children will hear stories and enjoy an activity. No registration. Caregivers must remain in the building. Sponsored by the Coyle Family Young Readers Fund.

Chamber Music with Jonathan Yates, Judith Yanchus and Gunnar Sahlin

Saturday, November 19, 3-4 pm
Come enjoy a short concert of solo and chamber music, perfect for a Saturday afternoon break from holiday preparations, with the new Music Director of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra, Jonathan Yates, the NSO’s Concertmaster, Judith Yanchus, and the NSO’s Principal Cellist, Gunnar Sahlin. The program will include Mozart Piano Sonata in C Major, K. 330; Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano (1917); and Beethoven Sonata for Cello and Piano in A Major, Op. 69. In addition to being a conductor, Jonathan is a widely-respected concert pianist, and Judith and Gunnar are two of the area’s most admired chamber musicians. Registration recommended.

New Perspectives Film Series: Good Hair

Chris Rock visits beauty salons and hairstyling battles, scientific laboratories and Indian temples to explore the way hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem of the black community in this exposé of comic proportions that only he could pull off. GOOD HAIR, directed by Jeff Stilson, received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Suggested donation of $5. Refreshments served. The New Perspectives Documentary series is programmed and moderated by filmmaker, Megan Smith-Harris. A Q&A will follow the film. Registration highly recommended. Registration highly recommended.
