ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

Registration and Placement Testing
Wednesday, January 18, 9:30-11:30 am
Registration and placement testing for ESOL classes will take place at the Wilton Library on Wednesday, January 18th, from 9:30-11:30 am Please note that the daytime ESOL class at Wilton Library is for the intermediate to advanced level student. Class size is limited and will be determined by Placement Testing. Classes are open to Wilton, Westport, and Weston residents. Class testing and registration will be conducted by Westport Continuing Education. Just walk in to take the test; no registration required. The classes will be held twice-weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 am starting Monday, January 30 at Wilton Library. Placement testing is required.

Books for Babies

We will sing and play and enjoy gentle stories geared for babies under 12 months old. This is an excellent forum to meet other new parents in the area. Bring dad too! 10-week program. No registration. Caregivers must be present.

Wonderful Ones and Twos with Caregivers

This program is a sharing time for 1 and 2 year olds and their caregivers. The emphasis is on books, with some songs and puzzles. No registration. 10-week program.

Lego Club

Wednesday, January 4, 11, 18 & 25, 4-5 pm
Kids in grades 3 and up are invited to join this weekly Lego® Club. Each session will be based on a new theme such as castles, vehicles, towers and more. Children will learn about the theme through stories and non-fiction books and then create a Lego masterpiece from the library’s Lego collection. A great time for all! There are 20 spots available for this program on a first come first serve basis. Tickets will be passed out at the Children’s reference desk starting at 3:45 pm the day of the program each week. This program runs for 4 weeks in January. Sponsored by the Coyle Family Young Readers.

Author Talk: Nina Sankovitch-Tolstoy And The Purple Chair

Wednesday, January 18, 7-8:30 pm
Nina Sankovitch has always been a avid reader, but after the death of her sister at age 46, she returned to her books for comfort and solace. She has continued to read and review books since her year of intense reading ended, resulting in writing her own book, Tolstoy and the Purple Chair: My Year of Magical Reading, which came out in June 2011. She shares her book reviews and maintains a dialogue with many readers through her blog. Please join local Westport reader/author Nina Sankovitch at the Wilton Library. Books available for purchase and signing.
