Fur, Fins, and Feathers is the newest WLA book club for kids in grades 4 through 6. On the second Saturday of each month, we will focus on a book, classic or contemporary, about animals. This month’s selection, My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George, revolves around a boy who, one May day, runs away from his New York City apartment to live in the Catskills wilderness with a falcon, a weasel, and a raccoon as his companions. This exciting survival story is the winner of the Newbery Medal. Club includes discussion, snacks, and activities. Come with a friend or make a new one. There is no charge, but registration is required. This program is sponsored by the Coyle Family Young Readers Fund.
