Wilton Library’s Medieval Summer Knights Read Summer Reading Program
Now through Wednesday, Aug. 22.
Children of all ages are invited to register for the summer reading program, Medieval Summer Knights Read. During our summer program kids and families can enjoy crafts, story times, large group programs, and small group programs as well as movies. For our Knights Read Challenge, kids are encouraged to read 40 picture/early reader books or 4,000 pages over the summer and keep a reading log of their age appropriate books. Those who complete the quest will be knighted by the Royal Court at the festival at the end of the summer. Knights will receive a T-shirt. Registration required in-person. Teen Summer Reading Program
Monday, June 25 through Saturday, August 11.
Teens entering grades 6 through 12 can sign up for the summer reading program. Each week, kids can come in, record their books they have read and enter their names into a weekly raffle. Kids can fill in more information to get a 2nd raffle ticket. Kids participating in 4 of the 7 weeks are eligible for the grand prize. Sponsored by the John and Patricia Curran Teen Fund.
Firefly Jar Craft for Teens
Thursday, July 26, 3 – 5 pm.
Remember catching fireflies at dusk? We’ll recreate those glowing jars with glow-in-the-dark paint. Now you can enjoy summer nights all year long with your own softly glowing firefly jar. Registration required. Sponsored by the John and Patricia Curran Teen Fund. For teens entering grades 6-12.

Knitting has been around for centuries, and the first knitting trade guild was founded in 1527 (the Late Middle Ages) in France. In this interactive workshop, children will learn the basics of knitting including casting on, the knit stitch, and binding off. Materials will be provided. Shirley Spencer, President of the Candlewood Valley Knitting Guild, will lead the workshop. In addition to teaching, Ms. Spencer designs and writes knitting patterns. Registration required. Ages 8 and up. Sponsored by the Coyle Family Young Readers Fund. Please sign up each child individually. Please do not sign up caregivers.
Summer Music & More Concert Series-Remember September

The Summer Music & More Concert Series is in its 12th year at the library. Join the fun for this year’s last indoor/outdoor concert. Remember September is a Connecticut-based Indie Rock Band that brings to mind the musical diversity of The Allman Bros. and Dave Matthews Band with a unique presentation that is all their own. Winner of the Fairfield County Weekly’s Best Indie Rock Band in 2010 and 2011, they have performed throughout the East Coast with renowned acts, including Train, Chicago, Randy Travis and many others.
