Welcome to Wilton Library

Events:

Kids ages 8 and up are invited to join Wilton Library’s Minecraft Computer Club. A server for Fairfield County has been set up with a virtual world where the Minecraft community in Wilton can meet and the club welcomes the enthusiasts. Please note: Minecraft is a subscription-based, online game. Players must bring their own laptop and create their own account. Handheld devices are not recommended because they run a Minecraft app that does not work with the same server. To be added to the Fairfield County server you must visit the Children’s Desk with a valid library card to be registered. Caretakers must sign in their child with staff member. If the child is not present and signed in by 10:10, the place may be given to a waitlisted child. Caretakers must remain in the building. Registration required; no fee.

Back by popular demand! Professional book discussion leader Susan Boyar will discuss 5 short stories published in The New Yorker magazine over 5 consecutive weeks.  This week's story is The Fugitive by T. Coraghessan Boyle.  Each Tuesday's meeting will be about the previous week’s story. Story titles will be announced 1 week prior to the meeting.  The current issue of The New Yorker is available in the Reading Room for in-library use, or download it through Zinio or OverDrive.

Do you have a box of old home videos? Wish you could still watch some of those funny or touching family moments? If so, come learn how to convert them to DVDs. For 7th graders through adults and 6th grade students accompanied by adults who are willing to learn too! Must have a valid CT Library card and signed Innovation Station Agreement form. Please bring the completed form to the workshop. Space limited to 1 student per session. Registration required. This is for home videos only and conversion time is one-to-one.

Have an old pair of heels, flats boots or tennis sneaks? Or a belt that needs some color, or an old pocket book or wrist-let that needs some new life?  Give them a whole new look with Mod Podge and cutouts of flowers, super heroes, planets, animals, landscapes, food and more. Bring your item to transform and a sense of fun! We'll supply the rest. For students entering grades 6-12. Registration required. Space limited. Sponsored by the John and Patricia Curran Teen Fund.

Join professional screenplay and television writer GiGi New for a workshop that offers a fresh and informative perspective on how to create a strong script for today’s television landscape.  She will discuss the fundamentals of script formatting as well as essential story elements needed for crafting an engaging television series. A finalist for The Disney Fellowship, GiGi began her career as an assistant on Everybody Loves Raymond and moved on to writing for the award-winning Nickelodeon family series The Brothers Garcia. She has since worked for Gavin Polone (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Gilmore Girls), Wally Wallodarsky, and Maya Forbes (The Larry Sanders Show) on the FOX series The Ortegas. No charge. Registration suggested.
