First Saturday Books for Babies

Saturday, Feb. 2, 9:30 – 10 a.m.
Bring your wonderful baby to this infant friendly program at the Wilton Library! We will sing and play and enjoy gentle stories geared for babies under 12 months old on the first Saturday of each month before the library opens. This is an excellent forum to meet other new parents in the area. Bring dad too! Registration suggested.

Take Your Child to the Library Day – Pirates Ahoy!

Saturday, Feb. 2, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Children of all ages can stop by Wilton Library for a variety of events and giveaways in celebration of “Take Your Child to the Library Day!” The theme of the day is Pirates – children are welcome to come in costume. Be prepared for photo opportunities. The first forty children to stop by the Children’s Reference desk will receive a free copy of Treasure Island.

Stitch-In-Public-Day at Wilton Library

Saturday, Feb. 2, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Members of the Fairfield County Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America will be stitching in public all day in the Gallery of the Wilton Library. They will have many hand-embroidered items on display, so drop by, take a look, say hello, and get inspired! And be sure to take a look at the display of books on embroidery that can be checked out from the library!

Minecraft Club

Saturday, Feb. 2, 10 – noon.
Minecraft is an online computer game unlike any other. It is a creative game. Worlds made out of individual blocks are generated. In these unique worlds players can build anything, mine anything, create anything, and interact with other players. The only limit is your imagination. A server for the Wilton Library has been set up with a virtual world where the Minecraft community in Wilton can meet. Minecraft enthusiasts are welcome to join the Minecraft Computer Club on Saturday mornings between 10- noon to discuss and play everything Minecraft in the Children’s Library. Ages 8 and up.

Please note: Minecraft is a subscription-based, online game. Players must bring their own laptop and create their own account.

Take Your Child to the Library Day – Beardsley ZooMobile

Saturday, Feb. 2, 10:30 – 11 a.m. and 11:30 – noon.
Children ages 4 and up are invited to this educational program with the Beardsley Zoo’s ZooMobile. The Zoo will bring many interesting animals including a pirate favorite – the Macaw! Kids can learn interesting facts about the Macaw and other endangered animals. Caregivers must remain in the building. Registration required. Sponsored by the Dibner Family Science Fund.

Shiver Me Timbers! Pirate Tales

Saturday, Feb. 2, 3 – 4 p.m.
Children ages 5 and up are invited to join us for a visit from a pirate! Jonathan Kruk and his pirate pal Rich Bala will be dressed as pirates for this fun, interactive show. Kids can enjoy learning about the history of pirates through interactive shanties, and hear tales of pirates and buccaneers such as Captain Kidd and Black Bird. Ages 5 and up with a caregiver in the building. Registration required. Sponsored by the Hacking Fund.
