Children’s Author Visit – Matthew Van Fleet

Children ages 2 through 7 with caregivers are invited to join us for a book reading and presentation by New York Times bestselling children’s author Matthew Van Fleet. Mr. Van Fleet will talk about his latest interactive story book Lick, as well as some of his other books such as Sniff, Moo, Cat, and Heads. The Children’s Library’s very favorite Van Fleet book is Tails! Matthew Van Fleet writes innovative, interactive books for preschool age children. Children love to touch, press, pull, lift, and even sniff as they explore colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and more. New Perspectives Film Series: First Position:
Saturday, Feb. 23, 7:30 – 9-30 pm.
First Position is a 2011 documentary film following the lives of six young dancers as they pursue their passion for dancing in a quest for the Youth America Grand Prix, one of the world’s most prestigious ballet competitions. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, won the Jury Prize at the San Francisco Doc Fest, and audience awards for Best Documentary at the Dallas International Film Festival and at the Portland International Film Festival, where Bess Kargman also won Best New Director. Suggested donation of $5. Refreshments served. The New Perspectives Documentary series is programmed and moderated by filmmaker, Megan Smith-Harris. A Q&A will follow the film.
