Twice-weekly classes in English as a Second Language will begin on Monday, January 28th and will continue on Mondays and Wednesdays until April 24th at the Wilton Library given by Westport Continuing Education. (There will be no classes on Feb. 18th, Feb. 20th, April 15th and April 17th.) Testing and registration required. Testing takes place at Wilton Library from 9:30 – 11 a.m. on Jan. 16.
Books for Babies

Bring your wonderful baby to this infant friendly program at the Wilton Library. We will sing and play and enjoy gentle stories geared for babies under 12 months old. This is an excellent forum to meet other new parents in the area. This program runs for ten weeks. Caregivers must be present.
Wonderful Ones and Twos

This program is a sharing time for 1 and 2-year-olds and their caregivers. The emphasis is on books, with some songs and toy time.
Computer Class (Hands-On): Getting Started—Basic Excel 2007

Mary Anne Franco shows how to create and format a basic spreadsheet in Excel 2007 in this free, hands-on class. Basic computer skills, including mouse proficiency, required. Advance registration required. Class limited to 10 students. To insure the best learning experience for all, latecomers will not be seated ten minutes past the posted start time. (This same class is offered on Thursday, March 21, from 6 – 7:30 p.m.).

Eyes, Ears, and Feet: How Animals Use Their Senses
Wednesday, March 20, 4 – 4:45 p.m.
Children ages 3-4 are invited to meet some live animals. Earthplace of Westport will join us for a lesson about animal senses. Together we will count a spider’s eyes, find a frog’s circular ears, discover what snake smell with, and much more. This program is a great way for children to meet different animals and practice important skills like counting, and shape recognition. Registration required. Ages 3-4 with a caregiver. Children in grades 4-6 are invited to join our newest book club! This book club will introduce children to Newbery Award winning books. Once a month we will meet and discuss one of these classics. The book for March’s discussion is The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, which won the Newbery in 2009. Read the book and spend a fun hour at the Library with crafts, questions, snacks, and activities. Simple Steps for Starting Your Business with SCORE

People thinking of starting their own businesses or having trouble getting them of the ground have a 5-part series developed by SCORE – “Simple Steps for Starting Your Business” is designed to avoid start-up pitfalls and puts businesses on the road to success. The first session on March 20 provides an opportunity to discover what starting a business is all about – the challenges, requirements, choices. The follow-on sessions cover the planning tools necessary to build a successful business.
