ESL (English as a Second Language)

Wednesday, Jan. 29 through Wednesday, April 28, 9:30 – 11 a.m.
Twice-weekly classes in English as a Second Language will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and will continue on Mondays and Wednesdays until April 28 at Wilton Library given by Westport Continuing Education. (There will be no class the weeks of Feb. 17-21 and April 14-18) Testing and registration required.

AARP Driver Safety Class

Wednesday, March 12, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The AARP Driver Safety Program is designed especially for drivers age 50 and older. This single session, four hour course covers the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time associated with ageing and provides practical techniques on how to adjust to these changes, along with learning to operate vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment.  No written or driving tests; classroom only.  CT residents only.  Registration required. Program cost: $15 for AARP members; $20 for non-members.  Bring check or cash only.

Books for Babies

Wednesday, Jan. 8 through Wednesday, March 19, 10:15 – 10:45 a.m.
Bring your wonderful baby to this infant friendly program at the Wilton Library. We will sing and play and enjoy gentle stories geared for babies under 12 months old.  This is an excellent forum to meet other new parents in the area.    Caregivers must be present.  The program runs for 11 weeks.

Soaptastic Fun

Did you ever wonder how soap and lotions are made? Come to Wilton Library for some soaptastic fun! Catherine Romer, the owner of Nod Hill Soap in Wilton, will show you how to make some wonderful, all natural soaps and lotions. Grades 2 and up. No charge. Registration required.

Five Building Blocks of Growth for Your Small Business: “Building a Winning Plan for Growth.”

Wednesday, March 12, 6 – 8 p.m.
This session shows how a business can evaluate its business strategy by estimating the financial value of that strategy: what are the projected revenues, profits and cash flow. It will also cover how those projections can be executed in the form of a business plan.

Speaker:  John Harmon, Managing Director of Adulant Consulting Services which advises small and medium-size businesses on strategies for growth and operating excellence.  He also serves as a SCORE counselor. Check-in begins at 5:30pm. Co-sponsored by Fairfield County SCORE, Wilton Library and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce.
