Music Appreciation 101: The Elements of Music Then and Now with Allen Brings

Tuesday, March 25, 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Composer and pianist Allen Brings provides an understanding of melodies and how they are used.  While melodic styles have changed, sometimes radically, during the past 1500 years, whether it is used by itself or in combination with other lines to create harmony, melody has not changed its fundamental nature during that time.  How a melody is designed depends on many factors, and several of these will be illustrated during the class. Allen Brings is a composer and pianist and is the Vice President of Connecticut Composers, Inc., a non-profit organization of composers living in or having ties to Connecticut.  See library’s website for more details.  No charge. Registration encouraged.
