The buzz is already out for the American remake of the Swedish film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which will be out in theaters in December. Get ready by watching the original Swedish trilogy, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire, and the The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. All are available on DVD here at the library!

June is a slow month for DVD releases, so if you are looking for a great movie, head down to New York for the 2010 New York Asian Film Festival. This wildly popular annual event is chock full of new films from East Asia, ranging from the silly to the serious. Most of the screenings sell out, so buy your tickets while you can! Then look in our collection next year for some of these great films when they are released on DVD.

Aliens Galore

District 9 opened in theaters last weekend. Without spoiling the plot, I can say that it is a full-throttle, action-packed, and original alien movie. If you want an idea of what the movie is like, check out the short film on which it is based.

If you can’t get to the theaters, or are not thrilled about spending $10 to see a movie, never fear! We have plenty of movies about aliens here in the Wilton Library collection. Come on in to get Alien, War of the Worlds, The Day the Earth Stood Still (both the 1951 version and the 2008 version), Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Signs, and other favorites, both classic and recent.
