Are you a fan of the 1970’s British TV show Upstairs Downstairs? You are in for a treat! The show has been remade in three hour-long episodes. With amazing costumes, beautiful sets, and fun characters, this series is sure to please anglophiles. If you are a purist and want to revisit the original series, we have that as well! You can find both series, the remake and the original on our TV Series shelves.

It’s not Robert Downey Jr or Jeremy Brett, it’s a whole new take on Sherlock Holmes. A collaboration between the BBC and Masterpiece Theatre, Sherlock is a wonderful reimagining of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters. Set in present-day London, Holmes is a restless man who is a “consulting detective” for the police. Through a mutual friend, he becomes roommates with Dr. John Watson, who has recently returned from army duties in the Middle East. The main characters from the classic stories live in the modern world in this fast-paced, clever, and thoroughly enjoyable TV series. Reserve Sherlock: Season One today!

That’s right, The Tudors: The Complete Third Season is here! This season features King Henry VIII’s third and fourth wives, Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleves. This Reformation-era soap opera continues to fascinate viewers. We all know how each marriage ends, but this up-close and personal (and somewhat erotic) lens through which we see history gives a new perspective on the enigmatic figure of Henry VII.

Mark your calendar for October 27, the release date for the highly-anticipated mini-series, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. Directed by Edward James Olmos, this two hour episode chronicles the rise of the Cylons from their own perspective. Emmy Award Winners? We Got ‘em!

Last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards proved to be a repeat win for many of the major categories. 30 Rock took home the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, Mad Men won for Outstanding Drama Series, Grey Gardens won the award for Outstanding Made for Television Movie, and Little Dorrit took home the prize for Outstanding Miniseries. As for the talent, Glen Close won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Damages, Bryan Cranston took the prize for Outstanding Lead Actor in the same category for Breaking Bad. Congratulations to all of the winners!

In case you haven’t heard, The Prisoner is back! This November, AMC will be premiering a new miniseries based on the BBC series from the 1960’s. Starring the amazing Ian McKellen and and Jim Caviezel, the trailer of the mini-series looks like a worthy remake of the orignal enthralling series.

The plot, according to the AMC website is as follows: “A man, known as ‘Six’, finds himself inexplicably trapped in ‘The Village’ with no memory of how he arrived. As he explores his environment, he discovers that his fellow inhabitants are identified by number instead of name, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. Not knowing whom to trust, Six is driven by the need to discover the truth behind The Village, the reason for his being there, and most importantly — how he can escape.”
