2013 Tony Nominations!

The nominations have been announced for the 67th Annual Tony Awards! The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 9, at 8 pm and will be televised on CBS. TonyAwards.com has a full listing of the nominations and Playbill.com has lots of information on the plays, including synopsis, show dates, performance schedule, run time, theater info, transportation, parking, show advisory, ticket purchasing, and more.

Asteroid to Fly By Earth Today

NASA will cover today’s Asteroid fly by which will be visible on the other side of the planet. Click here for NASA coverage. There was discussion of whether today’s meteor explosion in Russia was connected to the asteroid but I hear it is a cosmic coincidence. Click here for CNN’s coverage of the Russian meteor. Not sure of the difference between an asteroid and a meteor? Click here for some useful definitions that you can toss around at your next party.

Time for Lifestyle Changes: Weight Loss!

It’s time to revisit one of my tried and true apps that I unfortunately need to begin using again–Lose It! Lose It is a great tool to “set goals for weight loss and exercise”. It allows you to keep track of food eaten (calories added) and also of exercise accomplished (calories removed). Tell it how much you would like to lose each week and answer a few questions and it will tell you how many calories you may consume each day and when you will reach your target weight. Entering all food eaten can be a real eye opener and help you avoid those tempting holiday desserts. If you like working with others, you may share your progress with friends. It helps motivate me to “be good”! The basic app is free and is available on iOS, Android, Nook, Kindle, and the Web. You can also sign up for Premium Service ($39.99 per year) if you want to keep track of nutrients, sleep, steps, and other fun stuff. Be healthy!

Undo Typing on iPhone

The lessons we often remember best are those we learn when we most need them! I was editing a document on my iPhone and accidentally deleted much more than I planned to. The good news was that I had a hard copy of the document and I retyped the deleted paragraph. Then, I did a search and found the following tip at imore.com:

Hold iPhone firmly in one hand
Shake it
Tap the Undo button to confirm

I will not be forgetting this one any time soon!

New Year’s Resolutions–Getting Healthy!

On Today in New York this morning, there was a segment on one of our top resolutions for the new year–losing weight and getting healthy! PC Mike’s article lists a number of apps that will make your goal easier to attain. And, I’d like to add my personal favorite, Lose It! which will be getting a workout from me! Now we just need an app to give us will power!
