File Taxes With An App!

There is an app for almost anything! Intuit has released an app that allows filers of the 1040EZ form to file their taxes on their Android phones or iPhones. This New York Times article by Verne G. Kopytoff explains who may file via phone and also lists some other tax apps you might find interesting. Don’t forget to visit Wilton Library’s Tax Page for information and forms! NOTE: I have just discovered that one must now register for a free account with The New York Times to view many online articles.

Magazines Online

If you are looking for magazine articles or want to browse through magazines when you can’t get to the library, visit our Magazines/Newspapers page on our website. Go to www.wiltonlibrary.org, click on Research on the blue bar and then click on the words Research Databases in the center of the page. Click on Magazines/Newspapers and then on EBSCO MAS Ultra. You will be asked for your library barcode and you can then search for magazine articles or click on Publications at the top of the window to browse through a specific magazine of your choice. It’s a great way to browse magazines you might not otherwise read!

Browse Newspapers and Magazines for Free!

It’s a nice quiet holiday weekend; the library is closed but I am going to take my laptop outside and browse through the Wall Street Journal and New York Times and then maybe through some magazines. You can do this online (for free–no expensive subscriptions to pay for!). Go to our homepage (www.wiltonlibrary.org). Click on “Research” on the right side of the blue bar. Click on “Research Databases” on the left side of the page. In the center of the page, click on “Magazines/Newspapers”. Then, for magazines, choose “EBSCO MAS Ultra” or your favorite newspaper. Enter your library card barcode when prompted. You can search for articles or browse specific editions of your favorite magazine or newspaper. Happy reading!

Our Media Librarian, Melissa Friedman, has acquired a terrific new resource for the Library: A Playaway PowerNap NapMachine that promises three hours of deep sleep in 20 minutes. I just tested it for her (someone had to!) and it made me feel refreshed and relaxed. Faster and less expensive than a vacation! Thanks Melissa!
