The announcement was made! It will begin shipping in late March and April. It looks really cool. But, who named it? This will be the butt of jokes for a long time to come. The iPad looks like a bigger iPod Touch. And, it runs most of the apps available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It can handle e-books and will have an iPad store (according to David Pogue–click here to read his column in The New York Times). That should give it access to at least two stores: the iPad e-book store and the Kindle store (there is a Kindle app on the iPod Touch and iPhone that I love). ZDNet also has some information and thoughts on the iPad. And, it is also being touted as the tool for people (aging baby boomers) who have difficulty “learning” computers (both PCs and Macs). Do I want one? You bet (especially if someone gives me one)! But, I’m still working on my next smartphone. . .
