Is Talking On The Phone Out Of Fashion?

May 14th, 2010 · No Comments · News

Today’s New York Times has an article by Jenna Wortham reporting that “Cellphones Now Used More for Data Than for Calls.”  People are using their smartphones to “browse the Web, listen to music, watch television, play games and send e-mail and text messages.”  Now that I’m thinking about it, that is exactly how I use my smartphone.  My husband and I text each other so we don’t have to play phone tag and I love having access to email, Twitter, Facebook, Kindle books, and audiobooks wherever I am.  At this point in time, “almost 90 percent of households in the United States have a cellphone,” but phone use on the devices has stagnated.  Do you find that you are part of this trend?
