Silvermine Guild Arts Center January 9 - February 3 Noon - 5:00am New Members Exhibition Each year in the spring and fall, artists are selected, through a jurying process to become new members of the Silvermine Guild of Artists. This exhibit showcases the works of five new Guild Artist members inducted in the spring and fall of 2012. Through imagery and symbols, the artist explores the dissolution of American culture; a time and place where dishonesty has become the norm, and for many, innocence has been lost and the American Dream has been shattered. Wilton Library Association 7:00pm - 8:30am Author Talk - Madeline Miller: The Song of Achilles Friday, Feb. 8 Author Talk - Madeline Miller: The Song of Achilles, 7 – 8:30 p.m. Madeline Miller, author of The Song of Achilles presents a thrilling and unique retelling of the Iliad and the legend of Achilles: a tale of gods, kings, immortal fame, and the human heart. Miller has two degrees from Brown University in Latin and Ancient Greek, and has been teaching both for the past nine years. She also has a degree from Yale School of Drama, specializing in adapting classical tales to a modern audience. This debut novel is the winner of the 2012 Orange Prize, one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious literary prizes, joining among others, Ann Patchett, Zadie Smith, Barbara Kingsolver, and Téa Obreht.
