Tuesday, September 7-Friday, September 10, 10 am-8 pm
In celebration of Roald Dahl’s birthday children of all ages are invited to stop by the Children’s Library desk and take a raffle ticket for our Roald Dahl raffle. Tickets can be picked up from Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10 and the raffle will be drawn on Sat., September 11. Prizes are a Roald Dahl book and a Golden Ticket Willy Wonka Chocolate bar. All ages.

This program is a sharing time for 1 and 2 year olds and their caregivers. The emphasis is on books, with some songs and puzzles. 8-week program. No registration is required.

Tuesday, September 7, 11-11:30 am
For 3 and 4 years olds with parent/caregiver. By interacting with stories, singing songs and acting out finger plays and rhymes, children in this program gain pre-reading skills and learn how to participate in a group setting. 8-week program. No registration is required.

Tuesday, September 7, 2:15-3 pm
For independent listeners ages 4-6 years. Story time that provides children with experiences that enrich early literacy. No registration is required. 8-week program.

Tuesday, September 7, 4–5 pm
Children in grades 4-6 continue their dino club which meets once a week to discuss various topics including fossils, paleobiology, geology and more in preparation for the Paleo-Knowledge Bowl held by Peabody Museum. Grades 4-6 with caregiver in building. Facilitated by Darrell Fennell. REGISTRATION FILLED.

Bill Warrington’s Last Chance

James King of Wilton will speak about his novel, Bill Warrington’s Last Chance, for which he received the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Bill Warrington, recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, desires nothing more than to make things right with his long-estranged children before the disease takes its irrevocable toll. Using desperate and unconventional methods, he sets out west with his 15-year old granddaughter. The resulting tale is one of generations juxtaposed between coming of age and reaching old age, and family secrets revealed. Q&A following talk. Book sales will benefit both the library and Elm Street Books of New Canaan, who will handle the sales. Refreshments served during book sale/signing. Reservations recommended.
