Learn to create and format a basic spreadsheet in Excel 2007 in this free class. Basic computer skills, including mouse proficiency, are required. Class limited to ten students–advance registration required. To ensure the best learning experience for all, students are asked to arrive on time; no one will be permitted to enter classroom 10 minutes after start of the class. When the class is full, additional registrants will be added to a wait list. If any original registrants drop out, people from the wait list will be moved up to take the vacated spot.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

On four consecutive Thursdays (March 4, 11, 18, 25), Judson Scruton will give presentations exploring the theme of imagination in Shakespeare’s major dramatic genres. Looking closely at selected scenes in text and film, Mr. Scruton will discuss A Midsummer Night’s Dream (3/4/10), Henry IV (3/11/10), Hamlet (3/18/10), and The Tempest (3/25/10). Donations welcome. Registration strongly suggested.

To address the issues of an unsettled financial world and investing, Ruth Collier, Senior Vice President of American Funds, will present an informative and educational talk on Investing in an Uncertain Market focusing on four primary areas: Setting Realistic Expectations; Specific Investment Strategies; Customizing Your Portfolio; Value of Long-Term Investing. With over 25 years experience in the investment industry, Ms. Collier is an experienced and knowledgeable veteran in providing guidance to individuals seeking solutions. The Tigertones are Princeton’s signature all male a cappella group. With a constantly expanding repertoire ranging from traditional ballads and jazz to barbershop, Broadway, classic rock, and American pop, the Tigertones continue to entertain audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Although they travel extensively entertaining audiences nationally and worldwide, you can hear them right here on the stage of the Brubeck Room for this special concert. Suggested donation of $10 will benefit both The Tigertones and the Wilton Library. Registration strongly encouraged.

Spanish Story Times on Saturdays in March (March 6, 13, 20) will include book reading, songs, short videos, games, and more. Spanish students from the Wilton High School Spanish Honors Society will share their love of the Spanish language and culture with children. Ages 5-10 with caretaker in the building. The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s first and largest classroom driver safety course designed especially for drivers age 50 and older. The two-part, eight hour course covers the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time associated with ageing and provides practical techniques on how to adjust to these changes, along with learning to operate vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. There are no written or driving tests – classroom only. Session II will be held on March 20, 2010. Registration required. Program cost for both sessions: $12 for AARP members; $14 for non-members. Bring check or cash only to the first session.

Calling all book lovers in grades 4-6: Come to the WINRs (Wilton Intermediate Nutmeg Readers) Circle to discuss the 2011 Nutmeg nominees. Connecticut’s Nutmeg Award encourages children to read literature selected by a panel of state librarians and choose their favorite book out of ten titles. On the second Saturday of each month the group meets for fun, food (pizza donated by Wilton Pizza) and discussion. The March book is One Handed Catch by M.J. Auch. Bring a friend, win a prize!
