This is a two-night poetry and arts event for Wilton Library’s poetry initiative centered on the theme of a world with no restrictions, where anything’s possible – good or bad. Original poetry written by students in grades 7 – 12 will be read or performed, accompanied by various art forms. A book of the students’ poetry will be available for purchase. Program sponsored by Wilton Library with funding from an anonymous donor. Tickets can only be purchased at the front desk (no online registration) — $5 per person each show. Proceeds will benefit future teen programs.

Thursday, February 4 , 7-8:30 pm
Lynn S. Grefe, CEO of National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) will show a video about eating disorders and talk about NEDA’s role in combating the disease. Christiane Kinseley, a clinical supervisor from the Renfrew Center, will discuss the various eating disorders, how they show themselves, dangers, etc. A guest speaker will talk about her eating disorder battle and recovery. Lynn and Christiane will discuss ways to help friends, children or oneself and then end with a question and answer session. Registration is recommended.

Tuesday, January 19, 4-5 pm
Teens take a healthy study break and de-stress before midterms with yoga instructor Janice Wilcox. Bring a yoga mat or towel and wear sweats or loose comfortable clothes. Sponsored by the John and Patricia Curran Teen Fund. Registration suggested.

Wednesday, December 9 , 5–6 pm

Teens in grades 7-12 use candy and icing to decorate gingerbread houses. Registration required due to limited space. Sponsored by the John and Patricia Curran Teen Fund.

Wednesday, December 2, 5–6:30 pm
Teens in grades 7 – 12 learn to make beautiful wreaths while listening to holiday tunes. Bring a bag of greens (evergreen, boxwood, laurel, etc.), work gloves and clippers. Library supplies the frames, ribbons and berries. Registration required and limited to 12. No program fee. Funded by the John and Pat Curran Teen Fund.

Friday, November 13, 6:30–10 pm
A community collaboration with the Wilton Library, Trackside and the Wilton Family Y for students in grades 6th & 7th. Evening starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. at Trackside; kids transported to Wilton Library and Wilton Y by bus; kids picked up at 10:00 p.m. sharp at Y by parents/caregivers. $20 per child (bus and dinner included). Advance registration and payment required. Permission Slip available online here or at Wilton Library. Space limited. First come, first served basis. Registration forms and payment to be accepted at library only by Monday, Nov. 9. No online registration.

for “Read to Grow”
Tuesday, November 3, 11 am–3 pm
High School students are available to read to children ages 3 – 8. The “price” of admission for each child is one new or gently-used picture book. All proceeds go to Read to Grow, a nonprofit organization that promotes the development of early literacy and language skills in Connecticut. Drop-in. No registration necessary.
