ROAR's (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dog Program will be bringing a therapy dog to be read to by children.  The use of trained therapy dogs in reading programs can result in children who feel comfortable reading out loud, read more often, attempt more difficult books, and look forward to reading. As they improve their literacy skills, they’re not just learning how to read, they’re learning to love to read!  Children must read independently to participate in this program.  No program charge, registration is required.  Register online or call 203-762-6336.

Meet the Instruments

This workshop will provide children the perfect hands-on introduction to the violin, viola, and cello.  Students will be able to touch, tap, and pluck strings in a fun, interactive environment. Experienced, knowledgeable, and supportive instructors will lead the group and be available to answer any further questions parents might have.  Ages 6 and up with caregivers, registration required. Norwalk Symphony Orchestra—(Not) Just for Kids: Broadway Bound! – Soloists and Concert Preview,

Saturday, February 9, 2019 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (Not) Just For Kids program is a lively, fun and interactive program designed to be educational as well as entertaining. Members of the orchestra demonstrate their instruments, play for the children, and answer questions in hour long presentations. Throughout the season presentations are made for all instrument families: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. All programs end with attendees having a chance to hold and try to play a beginning level instrument in the 'Petting Zoo.' The Science of Sound
