This program is a sharing time for 1 and 2-year-olds and their caregivers. The emphasis is on books, with some songs and toy time. No registration, no program charge.

Mother Goose on the Loose is a themed story time for children ages 6 months to 2 years. Children will sing songs, listen to stories, move to music, and learn nursery rhymes. Felt boards, puppets, instruments, and props will be used.

Come and learn about different cultures around the world through stories, crafts and food. For children in grades 3 to 5. In the last of this 3-month program, we will find out about Colonial and Native American food and folklore.  A Colonial craft will also be offered. Registration required. ROAR's (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dog Program will be bringing a therapy dog to be read to by children.  The use of trained therapy dogs in reading programs can result in children who feel comfortable reading out loud, read more often, attempt more difficult books, and look forward to reading. As they improve their literacy skills, they’re not just learning how to read, they’re learning to love to read!  Children must read independently to participate in this program.  No program charge, registration is required.  Register online or call 203-762-6336.

The Science of Sound

Saturday, November 17, 2018 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

This is a hands-on STEAM-oriented workshop for kids ages 5 and up. Participants will explore the basic principles of sound. This knowledge will then be applied to understanding how string instruments work by handling and exploring a real violin, viola, and cello - all in a fun, interactive environment. Experienced, knowledgeable, and supportive instructors will lead the group and answer questions. Registration required. Norwalk Symphony Orchestra—(Not) Just for Kids: Joyful Noise! – Horns

Saturday, December 1, 2018 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (Not) Just For Kids program is a lively, fun and interactive program designed to be educational as well as entertaining. Members of the orchestra demonstrate their instruments, play for the children, and answer questions in hour long presentations. Throughout the season presentations are made for all instrument families: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. All programs end with attendees having a chance to hold and try to play a beginning level instrument in the 'Petting Zoo.' Series schedule: Saturday, December 1, 2018 – Horns; Saturday, February 9, 2019 - Soloists and Concert Preview; Saturday, March 9, 2019 – Percussion and Saturday, May 11, 2019 – Woodwinds.
