Build-a-Story

Can't come to story time because you have a morning napper? No problem. Join us on Wednesday afternoons for a story followed by a chance to build and play with Duplo Legos. Adding 'build and play' to story time helps develop early literacy skills and encourages creativity.  For ages 2-5. Caregivers must remain with children. No registration required.

Mother Goose on the Loose

Mother Goose on the Loose is a themed story time for children ages 6 months to 2 years.  Children will sing songs, listen to stories, move to music, and learn nursery rhymes.  Felt boards, puppets, instruments, and props will be used.  No fee.  

Please note – to create a small, consistent group experience, this program uses a lottery system for registration. Lottery registration forms are available at the Children's Library desk starting March 20, 2017 and must be returned by April 3, 2017. Patrons will be notified via email if they receive a spot. Kids ages 8 and up are invited to join Wilton Library’s Minecraft Computer Club.  A server for Fairfield County has been set up with a virtual world where the Minecraft community in Wilton can meet and the club welcomes the enthusiasts. Please note: Minecraft is a subscription-based, online game. Players must bring their own laptop and create their own accounts.  Handheld devices are not recommended because they run a Minecraft app that does not work with the same server.  To be added to the Fairfield County server you must visit the Children's Desk with a valid library card to be registered.  Caretakers must sign in their child with staff member. If the child is not present and signed in by 10:10, the place may be given to a waitlisted child. Caretakers must remain in the building for children under 12 years.   Registration required.

Free Comic Book Day

 All over America, kids and adults are celebrating Free Comic Book Day. A tradition that started in 2002, on the first Saturday in May, local comic book stores donate comics to libraries to give away. Cave Comics in Newtown Ct. has been a loyal sponsor of this program at the Wilton Library for over 10 years, donating a great variety of free comics for the children of Wilton. So come to the Wilton Library and pick up some comics.

Star Wars—501st Legion

The Force will be strong at Wilton Library when the famous 501st Legion represents a Galaxy far, far away! Come and see characters from George Lucas's Universe, interact with them and have your picture taken! If you are a Jedi-in-training this is a wonderful opportunity for you. Wear costume if you wish and pick up some free comic books while you are here! No registration required, for all ages.

(Not) Just For Kids Music Program: Winds, Soft & Sweet -- Woodwinds

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (Not) Just For Kids program is a lively, fun and interactive program designed to be educational as well as entertaining.  Members of the orchestra demonstrate their instruments, play for the children, and answer questions in hour long presentations. Tales to Tails

ROAR's (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dog Program will be bringing a therapy dog to be read to by children.  The use of trained therapy dogs in reading programs can result in children who feel comfortable reading out loud, read more often, attempt more difficult books, and actually look forward to reading. Children in grades K and up can drop in to play in the 'STEM sandbox'. Various Children's Library STEM stations will be available for kids to explore. Some stations will include Dash and Dot robots, Code-a-pillars, stop-motion animation apps, gears, and more. Each week will have different stations.
