STEM Sandbox

Tuesday, May 23, 2017 - 3:30pm

Children in grades K and up can drop in to play in the 'STEM sandbox'. Various Children's Library STEM stations will be available for kids to explore. Some stations will include Dash and Dot robots, Code-a-pillars, stop-motion animation apps, gears, and more. Each week will have different stations. Caregivers must remain in the building for children under the age of 12. Adult participation is encouraged. Supported by the Amadeo Family. 

Books for Babies

Bring your wonderful baby to this infant friendly program at Wilton Library. We will sing and play and enjoy gentle stories geared for babies under 12 months old. This is an excellent forum to meet other new parents in the area. No registration, no fee. Caregivers must be present. This is a 9-week program.

Mother Goose on the Loose is a themed story time for children ages 6 months to 2 years.  Children will sing songs, listen to stories, move to music, and learn nursery rhymes.  Felt boards, puppets, instruments, and props will be used.  No fee.  

Please note – to create a small, consistent group experience, this program uses a lottery system for registration. Lottery registration forms are available at the Children's Library desk starting March 20, 2017 and must be returned by April 3, 2017. Patrons will be notified via email if they receive a spot. This is an 9-week program.

Minecraft Club

Saturday, May 27, 2017 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

Kids ages 8 and up are invited to join Wilton Library’s Minecraft Computer Club.  A server for Fairfield County has been set up with a virtual world where the Minecraft community in Wilton can meet and the club welcomes the enthusiasts. Please note: Minecraft is a subscription-based, online game. Players must bring their own laptop and create their own accounts.  Handheld devices are not recommended because they run a Minecraft app that does not work with the same server.  To be added to the Fairfield County server you must visit the Children's Desk with a valid library card to be registered.  Caretakers must sign in their child with staff member. If the child is not present and signed in by 10:10, the place may be given to a waitlisted child. Caretakers must remain in the building for children under 12 years.   Registration required.

Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to join us for this drop-in story time. Each week we will explore different topics such as woodland creatures, transportation, dinosaurs, fairy tales, and more. Ambler Farm Reads

Wilton Library’s Water, Wind & World Summer Reading Program Begins

Friday, June 23, 2017 - 10:00am to 6:00pm

Join Wilton Library this summer for our Water, Wind & World Summer Reading Program.  Children can register on Wandoo Reader, an online reading log to keep track of their reading anywhere they go as long as they have an internet connection.  By reading, logging, and completing challenges, kids will be eligible for benchmark prizes throughout the summer.  The Water, Wind & World program stimulates kids’ imaginations with wonderful stories and fun activities while learning about ecosystems, animals, and resources in the world they live in. Drop-in story times, drop-in activities, large-group enrichment and entertainment programs and animal visits are just some of the events planned though August 25.  Think of us as your free stay-at-home summer camp experience. Registration begins June 23.

1000 Books for Kindergarten: Summer

Children who are not yet entering Kindergarten are invited to participate in our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program for the summer and beyond. During the summer, children will receive a special bonus prize for visiting the library each week. Learn about Bee Keeping!

Monday, June 26, 2017 - 3:30pm to 4:30pm

Bee Keeper Mike Carey will come in and talk about bee keeping in an interactive format. He will bring a new beehive, along with some other beekeeping equipment to use as props. He will discuss the different kinds of bees that are found in the hive, the various duties of the bees, how they collect food and make honey, how they communicate with each other, their importance in our food production. Participants will pot a small flowering plant that attracts bees to take home. Ages K and up. Supported by the Amadeo Family. Registration required, up to 40 participants.

Birds of Prey
