Winter Palace Sculpture Contest

Monday, November 27, 2017 - 10:00am to Thursday, December 7, 2017 - 4:00pm

The Wilton Economic Development Commission in partnership with Wilton Library invited Wilton kids in grades K-12 to submit Winter Palace sculptures to be put on display in the Children's Library section of library from Nov. 27 through Dec. 7. During this time, guests and visitors of the library can vote for their favorite sculptures and winning sculptures will be awarded ribbons. Voting will close on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at noon. Votes will be counted and ribbons will be displayed by Thursday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. in the following grade categories: K-2; 3-5; 6-8; 9-12. Entries will remain on display through Jan. 19.

Holiday Book Sale

The Library's holiday Book Sale in the gallery is a seasonal delight where bargains can be found - featuring a large array of pristine books, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks suitable for gift-giving to all ages. This year, the sale includes a diverse collection of classical, jazz, Latin and blues CDs.  All CDs are priced to sell, many are new shrink-wrapped items.  All merchandise is perfect for holiday gift-giving. As items are sold, new ones appear daily. All sales support the library.

Sale opens at noon on November 30 and continues during regular library hours through January 3, 2018. Library closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Wilton Holiday Stroll

Girls Who Code Club

If you're a girl in grades 6-12 and want to learn to create mobile apps, games or websites, join Girls Who Code. No experience necessary – just enthusiasm and willingness to try new things! We're part of a national club that offers project-based activities in a fun and creative environment. This is an on-going program where each week builds on skills learned in previous weeks.

We'll meet twice a month on Sundays from October 1, 2017 - June 3, 2018. Sessions are from 1 - 3 p.m. on these dates: October 1 & 15, November 5 & 19, December 3 & 17, January 7 & 21, February 4 & 11, March 4 & 18, April 1 & 15, May 6 & 13 and June 3.  Registration required. The Baby Signs® Program teaches caregivers and children from 6 months of age to the toddler stage signs for everyday activities so they can communicate before the child can speak fluently.  Each workshop session focuses on one everyday activity. The signs are learned through activities, songs, and a book.  Every participant will go home with a handout.  There will be 7 workshop programs.  Monday, November 20 is a special Thanksgiving themed program! Random Acts of Kindness (RAKtivist) Club for Middleschoolers

We're looking for students in grades 6-8 who would like to join RAKtivists -- a world-wide movement which practices Random Acts of Kindness. On the first or second Tuesday of every month we'll do something nice and think of ways to spread kindness and put smiles on people’s faces. We'll bake cookies for a senior living community, make dog and cat toys for animal shelters, decorate gingerbread houses for local agencies, read to the elderly and more.

Breast Cancer Survivors’ Support Group

Light Up a Holiday Apron with LEDs

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (Not) Just For Kids program is a lively, fun and interactive program designed to be educational as well as entertaining. Members of the orchestra demonstrate their instruments, play for the children, and answer questions in hour long presentations. Throughout the season presentations are made for all instrument families: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. All programs end with attendees having a chance to hold and try to play a beginning level instrument in the 'Petting Zoo.' Wilton Singers Holiday Sing

Drop-in Die Cut Holiday Ornaments

Drop in and join us tonight to make a lovely holiday ornament. We will be using our Cricut Die cutting machine to cut a simple holiday design of your choice on vinyl. We will then take the vinyl design and apply it to a round glass ornament. You can add a festive holiday ribbon to the top and take home a finished piece for your own home or to give as a gift. For adults ages 18+. Cost is $5 for two glass ornaments.

ROAR's (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dog Program will be bringing a therapy dog to be read to by children.  The use of trained therapy dogs in reading programs can result in children who feel comfortable reading out loud, read more often, attempt more difficult books, and look forward to reading. The Baby Signs® Program teaches caregivers and children from 6 months of age to the toddler stage signs for everyday activities so they can communicate before the child can speak fluently.  Each workshop session focuses on one everyday activity. The signs are learned through activities, songs, and a book.  Every participant will go home with a handout.  There will be 7 workshop programs.  Monday, November 20 is a special Thanksgiving themed program! Embroider a Holiday Gift

In this one-on-one session, let us introduce you to our electronic embroidery machine and personalize a holiday gift – tea towel, apron, baby’s bib, burp cloth or golf towel. Aprons are available for $7. All other items are $5. Stitch Time for Knitters and Crocheters
