A New Children’s Library (Archive Page–Historical Information Only)
Because toddlers and elementary school-age children have been one of the fastest growing segments of our population in Wilton, we are responding to the need expressed by so many young parents to expand our collection for children, enlarge the space, create a fun and inviting crafts room as well as a bigger story room, and provide kid-sized rest room facilities.
Warm and inviting to children and their parents, separate areas have been designed for preschoolers with cozy spaces for an adult and child to curl up with a book together, as well as spaces that draw in early readers and other elementary school-age children, whether to work on school projects or just have fun.
To inspire children at the very beginning of their lives to be library lovers, we want to be able to be welcoming at all times. Specifically, we want to register all children who wish to sign up for our creative programs. In past years, there have been waiting lists for storytimes and other programs. It will be wonderful to be able to take all the children who wish to go on incredible journeys at the Library, to nourish them in joys of discovery and possibility…in a space they love!
