Expansion Project - January/February 2005 July/August 2004 photosSeptember/October 2004 photos November/December 2004 photos January/February 2005 photos March/April 2005 photos May/June 2005 photos July/August 2005 photos September/October 2005 photos November/December 2005 photos January/February 2006 photos Unexpectedly, as workers prepared to demolish the end wall in our current newspaper and magazine section in order to connect the two-story addition to the older structure, they found that the roof needed shoring up. Scaffolds will remain in place through February, encroaching a bit on the ambiance of the reading area. ![]() Steel girders are put in place on the southwest corner of the building. ![]() Another view of the Godfrey Place side. The first floor of the two-story addition will house a new Children's Library and the Wilton History Room, two large meeting rooms and offices will fill the second floor. ![]() A view of the wall outside the magazine and newspaper reading area - note the horizontal black box mid-way up the temporary wall - it's actually a bank of lights that used to illuminate the last row of biographies. ![]() The way is cleared for a link between the old and the new once the new foundation is backfilled. ![]() The connection on the southern side of the building begins to take shape. ![]() Our drive-up window (where you'll be able to pick up reserved books, videos, CDs and DVDs as well as return them!) evolves. ![]() Topping Out! February 11, 2005: First Selectman Paul Hannah signs the beam. ![]() Signed also by staff, trustees and the construction crew, the front entrance beam is installed complete with flag and tree. ![]() Another view...(this photo courtesy of Alex vonKleydorff) ![]() |
