You may use the form below to register for any Wilton Library program listed here. Please note that all of our programs have registration limits; if your program is full you will be notified of that fact and placed on a waiting list.

(A note to those interested in our computer classes and other programs with fees: your place is not guaranteed until we receive your payment.)

KIDS PROGRAM!
Winter Story Times
January 23 through March 9
For children ages 0-5 as follows:
To 11 Months: Wednesday, 10:15-10:45 am
Ones: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:15-10:45
Twos: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10:15-10:45 am
Threes: Tuesdays, 11:30-noon; Wednesdays, 1-1:30 pm
Fours/Fives: Mondays and Tuesdays, 2-2:45 pm.
To 11 Months, Ones and Twos must bring an adult.

Stock Market Game for Teens
Monday, February 6-Monday, April 10
No Monday session on February 20. In this 10-week program, teens learn about the world of high finance using the real stock market, a real-time portfolio using a live trading simulation with "not so real" currency. For kids in grades 7-12. Teams of 2-4 kids will compete with other teams around the country. Library resources will be utilized (print and electronic) to make their investment decisions. The library's own in-house stock market guru, Michael McEneaney, will give the students on-going guidance. Game endorsed by the National Council on Economic Education. No charge for program. Chess Instruction: Sesson 1

Thursday, March 2, 4 pm
Chess instruction by R.J. Chambers, President of the Wilton High School Chess Club. Session 1 consists of six classes: 4-5 pm on Thursdays (February 23, March 2, 9, 23, 30 and April 6). $20 per child, limit of 24 per class. Beginners thru advanced, Grades K-12. Program includes basic instruction, strategies, and classic opening and closing moves. Call 762-3950 to register.

Sunday, March 5, 2 pm
Peter Spiegelman discusses his latest thriller, Death's Little Helpers and his latest creation in the John March series which will be published in Winter 2007. With his first mystery, Black Maps, Spiegelman has put himself on the map by winning a Shamus award. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Advance registration suggested. Candlelight Concert Performance:
Jonathan Biss, Pianist
at Wilton Congregational Church

Sunday, March 5, 4 pm
Candlelight Concerts welcomes Jonathan Biss at 4 pm at the Wilton Congregational Church. A dynamic international sensation, not yet 25 years old, Mr. Biss will play a program of Beethoven, Schumann, and Schoenberg. He has been hailed by The New York Times for his "assurance, intelligence, and vitality." A portion of the proceeds from the Candlelight Concert Series benefits the Wilton Library's classical and jazz music collections. Tickets will be available for purchase one-half hour prior to the performance or you can reserve yours now by calling 762-3401 or 762-5019.

American Red Cross Babysitting Training
Tuesday, March 7, and Wednesday, March 8, 4-7 pm
Two-part babysitting course on two consecutive days. $50 per child, ages 11-15. Advance payment required at time of registration. Limited seating. Bring snack. Call 762-3950 for details and to register.

Double feature for kids! First show will run from 10-11:30 am and second show will run from 2-3:30 pm. Free popcorn and lemonade. Children under 5 need to bring an adult with them.

Saturday, March 18, 2-3 pm

Fiction Writing Workshop

This is a fun, fast-paced immersion in the craft of fiction writing with instructor Susan Breen. Topics include plot/story structure, character development, point of view and Q&A about the business of writing. Advance registration required.

What Skill is More Important Than Communication?

Wilton Library and the Wilton Chamber of Comerce co-sponsor this engaging and interactive seminar with Michael Crystal, Ph.D. on becoming a more effective communicator. Dr. Crystal will help attendees better understand their own communications style, become a better listener, and generally improve flexibility, open-mindedness, versatility, adaptability, tolerance and outword focus. Journey of the Blankets
Sunday, March 26, 2 pm
Barb Schade, a local educator, has just returned from her second trip to Pas Christian, MS, where she oversaw distribution to children and families in need of the 90+ blankets made by approximately 50 Wilton children at the Library one Saturday afternoon in September. Barb will share stories of the children who received the blankets and photos--including the blankets in use, plus many others showing the unfathomable devastation that has befallen the region in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Annual Book Sale
Saturday, April 1 through Tuesday, April 4
Wilton Library's popular Annual Book Sale fund-raiser. Saturday Early Buying Hours: 8-10 am for Early Buyers with $15 admission per person fee. Saturday Hours: 10 am-5 pm. Sunday Hours: 12 pm-5 pm. Monday Hours: 9 am-4 pm (books 1/2 price). Tuesday Hours: 9 am-4 pm (books free with donation). Features items in more than 50 categories--mysteries, gardening, travel, and science fiction. Silent auction on Saturday and Sunday (closes at 4 pm on Sunday). For further information, call 762-3950. Last day to donate books for the sale is Thursday, March 9.

Scan and Restore Your Precious Photos

An inexpensive flatbed scanner and a few days' work is your answer. Some older photos will still need color or lighting correction. It's a snap with any image processing software package.
