  • Land Records

Wilton became a separate parish from Norwalk in 1726 and an incorporated town in 1802. This means that Wilton’s pre-1802 land records are part of Norwalk’s. Wilton’s probate district was also changed in 1802. Wilton’s pre-1802 probate records are in Fairfield; Wilton’s post-1802 probate records are in Norwalk. These records have been digitized and are viewable through FamilySearch, a nonprofit family history organization. Some records may be viewed only at FamilySearch affiliate libraries.
