Where in the world is the book drop?

The library's frequently-moved book drop has reached its final destination. The book drop has been moved a few times over the course of construction. With the final striping of the parking lot complete, the bin is now set. It now is located in the library's west parking lot which is accessible from Godfrey Place. Drivers have a straight shot up to the bin and can then choose to loop around and go back out to Godfrey Place or continue straight and exit to Old Ridgefield Road or Hubbard Road. Patrons are reminded that the 24/7 book drop is for library items. Books, videos, CDs, and DVDs being donated to the library should be placed in the gray book bin which is still located at the library's former staff entrance also on Godfrey Place. People using that bin are asked to please use boxes or bags when they drop of gently-used items as it makes it easier for library staff and volunteers to collect the materials.

The Drive-Up Window also located on Godfrey Place is available for patrons to drop off and pick up library materials. Patrons may reserve materials either by phone, the Web site or in person. When the items become available, patrons will be called and they can choose to pick them up in person or at the drive-thru. For more information, call 762-3950.

Volunteers needed for outreach program

The library's highly successful outreach program, At Your Service, needs volunteers to bring materials to The Greens at Cannondale and Sunrise Assisted Living communities. Trips are made every three weeks to these facilities so that residents may take advantage of the library's books and videos. The time requirement for volunteers is minimal at ½ to one hour every three weeks. Friends are encouraged to sign up together although it is not required. Volunteers who are able to drive and drop-off pre-selected materials are asked to contact Melissa Friedman at 762-3950 ext. 238.

Reminder: The library is closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 for Thanksgiving.
