Fantasy literature for kids

Dragons, trolls and other mythical creatures are the focus of the new Saturday story hours for kids in grades K - 3. Folklore and Fantasy meets this Saturday, March 5 from 2 - 3 p.m. and again on March 19. There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is suggested. Call 762-3950 or register online.

Combined talent for art exhibition

Juliana Van Norden and Amy Foster are the two featured artists in this month's art exhibition entitled Faces and Places opening on Sunday, March 6 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Portraiture and landscapes are the focus of Ms. Van Norden's work. Ms. Foster's works are a sampling of her portraiture, landscapes, still life and sculptures in mixed media, ceramics and glass. The exhibition runs through Tuesday, March 29. Shakespearean kings

Guest lecturer Ann Martin begins another of her popular sessions on Monday, March 7 from 10:30 - noon when she discusses two kings in Shakespeare's works. "Uneasy Lies the Head" - An Exploration of Shakespeare's Kings with Ann Martin is a five-part series (March 7, 14, 21, 28 and April 4) with discussions on Shakespeare's King Richard II and Henry V, their responsibilities of being king and their stylistic differences. New Story Times sessions

The library has just added a Late Winter Story Times program for children ages 1 - 6 starting Monday, March 7 through Thursday, April 7. The schedule is as follows: Ones meet on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10:30 - 11; Twos gather on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 - noon; Threes assemble on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 - 1:30 and Fours through Sixes meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2 - 2:45. Ones and Twos must be accompanied by adults. There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is required. Call 762-3950 for more information.

Wilton Library Readers

The Wilton Library Readers get together on Wednesday, March 9 from noon - 1 p.m. to discuss The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. The group is led by Susan Boyar and meets every second Wednesday of the month through May (April's session is moved to April 6 to make room for the Annual Book Sale). St. Patrick's Day craft program

Fun crafts will be the order of the day on Wednesday, March 9 from 4 - 5 p.m. when children ages 3 - 7 can participate in Shamrock Shenanigans, a St. Patrick's Day craft program. How to talk with kids

Wilton school system psychologists Jackie Monahan and Beth Gallos, along with assistant director of Special Services Pauline Smith will engage parents in a discussion on Thursday, March 10 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. in the program Communicating Successfully with Your Kids. The presentation is based on the book, How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk. The program is designed to provide strategies to help parents better communicate with their children to avoid conflicts. Books will be available for purchase. A look into the future

Author Jane Stern will take the audience into a new dimension when she shares her 40-year fascination with Tarot card reading in the Women's Night Out program, Exploring the Mysteries of Tarot with Jane Stern on Thursday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. Ms. Stern's talk will include the origins of the tarot card deck and how to read cards.
