Myths and magic of tarot cards

Tarot cards have captured people's imaginations for centuries and tonight the library's program, Exploring the Mysteries of Tarot Cards with Jane Stern at 7:30 p.m., promises to entertain and enlighten the audience about the ancient system. Author Jane Stern, most notable for her co-authored books with her husband Michael involving foods, and her most recent work Ambulance Girl, has been involved with tarot cards and is a master reader herself. She will explore the many myths of tarot cards and their origins as well as sharing how to read them. The evening is part of the Women's Night Out Series at the library. There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is suggested but not required. Participants are encouraged to bring a friend. Wine and cheese will be served. Story Times continue

Though the month of March is still chilly and damp, children ages 1 - 6 have a cozy place for story times various times during the weeks through April 7. The Late Winter Story Times program runs Mondays through Thursdays at different times depending on the age groups which are divided into Ones, Twos, Threes and Fours through Sixes. Varied media art exhibition

This month's art exhibition, "Faces and Places" by Juliana Van Norden and Amy Foster is on display through Tuesday, March 29. Close to 50 pieces are being shown consisting of oils on canvas, pastels, charcoal and mixed media sculptures. For more information, call 762-3950.

Editing digital camera photos

Mary Anne and Michael Franco return to the library on Saturday, March 19 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for Digital Photography: Intermediate Picture Editing with Photoshop. The Francos provide expert information on restoring old or damaged photos, adding or removing elements from photos, file types and sizes. The seminar is demonstration-style in the Community Room. Senior book group

Kathy Leeds, library director, discusses The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri when the Senior Center Book Discussion meets this month on Tuesday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at the Comstock Community Center. Call the Senior Center to register at 834-6240.

Teens and scrapbooking

Teens in grades 7 - 12 will learn basic scrapbooking techniques with Elizabeth Waskom on Thursday, March 24 in Scrapbooking for Teens from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Papers, borders and stickers will be supplied along with special tools to make the job fun and easy. Participants need to bring four groupings of themed photos (5 or 6 pictures per theme). The program is made possible by the John Curran Memorial Teen Fund. There is no charge for the program. Fun with Latin

Rarely does one think of Latin in a fun context, but on Saturday, March 26 from 2 - 3 p.m., Wilton High School teacher Max Gabrielson creates an entertaining environment in Fun with the Ancient Romans. During the hour program, kids in grades 7 and 8 get to experience fun with Latin and the culture of ancient Romans. Gladiators, architecture, Roman numerals, Greek and Roman mythology, history, government, the Roman calendar and holiday, and lots of SAT-oriented English words derived from Latin are introduced in a fun, informative atmosphere. Reminder: Wilton Library's annual book sale is April 16 - 19. People are encouraged to scour their attics, basements and bookshelves for gently-used items.
