Things may seem "quiet" at the library over the next few weeks since there is not much currently scheduled from a programming perspective. That statement belies a real truth-it is anything but quiet. With myriad volunteers gearing up for the annual book sale which takes place from Saturday, April 16 through Tuesday, April 19 and the construction crews creating a new "face" for the library, the center for discovery is the center of activity. The large tent soon to be erected in the courtyard foreshadows the row upon row of tables that will be stationed inside and outside the current library for the sale. While waves of volunteers stack, shift and sort through the more than 30,000 items, others will categorize and alphabetize in preparation for the big event. The sale opens on the 16th from 8 - 10 a.m. for early buyers who pay an admission fee of $15 per person. At 10 a.m. the sale is open to everyone with no admissions fee and runs until 5. On Sunday the sale is noon to 5; Monday 9 - 4 with items marked ½ price; Tuesday 9 - 2 with items free (donations accepted). A silent auction will be held on Saturday (8 - 5) and Sunday (noon to 4). During the sale on Saturday, the Rotary Club of Wilton will be selling coffee and donuts in the morning and hot dogs, sodas and chips during the day. The proceeds of the food sales also will benefit the library. For more information about the annual fund-raiser, call 762-3950.
