The International Book Group: Literature of Other Lands meets tonight at 7 p.m. to discuss Spring Snow by Yukio Mishima. The group discussion will be led by Miwako Ogasawara who is of Japanese descent. The evening will include refreshments and a Japanese dessert to complement the country of origin for the story. Circus fun for everyoneOn Saturday, April 30 Wilton High School Little Theater will be turned into a whirling, twirling, juggling, flipping extravaganza when Circus Follies comes to town for the library's family "fun-raiser." Mark Stolzenberger and Anna Jack, former circus performers with Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey and the Moscow circus respectively will marshal all their energies in two shows at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Acrobatics, juggling, balancing and animal tricks are just some of the fun in store for kids of all ages. Hot dogs, popcorn, candy, sodas and toys will be available for purchase before the first show and between the two shows. Proceeds from the ticket, food and toy sales benefit the library's technology and collection funds. Tickets are $10 per seat per show and are available at the library. Seminar for adult authors and illustrators yearning to create for childrenFor all the would-be writers and illustrators of children's books who want to understand the process of publishing children's books, Elissa Grodin and Pamela Hovland are conducting a seminar for adults on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. entitled ABC's of Children's Books. The two Wilton residents will provide knowledge and insight into the publishing world based on their own recent triumphs. Elissa Grodin is the author of two books which are part of a larger ABC series - N is for Nutmeg and D is for Democracy. Pamela Hovland recently collaborated with photographer Joanne Dugan in designing ABC NYC, an alphabet book using the backdrop of New York City. There is no charge for the program. Movies, movies and more moviesMay is movie month at the library for children ages 5 and up. Movies in May for Kids runs from 4 - 5:30 p.m. on four consecutive Wednesdays. First rate movies will be shown during the hour and a half with refreshments and popcorn to go along with the big screen entertainment. The schedule is as follows: May 4: The Incredibles; May 11: Shark Tales; May 18: SpongeBob Squarepants - The Movie; May 25: Where the Red Fern Grows.
