Talk for parents of college-bound juniors

New green leaves appearing on trees and May flowers opening their blooms to the warmer air are all signs of spring. With these signs of spring, kids in high school are planning proms, graduation and summer activities. While thee idyllic pursuits are happening for kids, parents of juniors are taking deep breaths because they know what faces them over the summer and early fall - the college application process and living with a teenager through it all. The library is offering a seminar that will help with this eventuality. The College Application Year - How You and Your Teenager Can Survive Each Other on Thursday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. may be one of the more important junior parent seminars before school lets out. Janet Bertoldi, Ph.D. will examine issues many parents and their college-bound teenagers face during senior year, particularly in the context of developmental tasks of late adolescence. Dr. Bertoldi will cover anxiety over the college application process, teenage procrastination, balancing parents' involvement, "senioritis," and handling acceptance/rejection letters. There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is suggested. Call 762-3950 or register online.
