Adult Services now openPeople who have stayed around for the quiet days of August have a treat awaiting them with the opening of the Adult Services section of the library. The original building has been reworked and transformed into a newer, brighter space with more room for reading areas and more lighting. Fiction and non-fiction books now are available, along with the magazines and newspapers, audiobooks on CD and tapes, music CDs, videos, reference materials, the teen collection and Internet and computer access. Construction is still ongoing with the Brubeck Room and the northeast addition, which means that certain areas are in permanent places while others will be temporarily moved to accommodate the construction phases. Currently, the teen collection is set up in what was the former Community Room. As construction progresses, the teen collection will be moved to its final new home. Signs will be posted to help patrons with the temporary moves of materials. People are invited to come see the new library as it morphs into a new entity.
New audiobooks on CDWith the opening of Adult Services, the audiobook collection now is available. While the books were literally under wraps, new ones were being processed. Some of the new audiobooks on CD now available for loan are The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Specimen Days by Michael Cunningham, The Twelfth Card (abridged and unabridged) by Jeffery Deaver, Eleven on Top by Janet Evanovich, Locked Rooms by Laurie R. King, The Princes of Ireland by Edward Rutherfurd, Devil's Corner by Lisa Scottoline, and The Ya-Yas in Bloom (abridged and unabridged) by Rebecca Wells.
