Drive-thru Window a success

For the residents who have stayed in town this summer, the library's new drive-thru window has become an instant success. The usual transactions can be handled at the window located on the Godfrey Place side of the expansion. Patrons may reserve an item in advance via phone, Internet or in person at the front desk. When the items are available, the patron will be called and pick-up can be done at the drive-thru window. Returned items and payment of fees or programs also can be handled at the window. The drive-thru window hours of operation are the same as the library: Monday and Friday 10 - 6, Tuesday through Thursday 10 - 7, Saturday 10 - 5 and starting Sunday, Sept. 11 from 1 - 5. The book drop bin in the parking lot between the library and the bank is available 24/7 for patrons wishing to return items. The drop-off box for donated books is still located at the original back entrance of the library on Godfrey Place. For more information, call 762-3950.

Groups of books for book groups

The library has a cache of books for book groups to use for their reading and discussion pleasures. As a service to the community, the library provides five copies of titles requested by any of the more than 30 area book groups. According to Beth Mason, head of the library's collection, "This has become one of the most popular service initiatives that the library has undertaken. The only stipulation is that the books must be available in paperback, so that we can provide more titles with the limited budget." Books in the book group shelves are not just for book groups. Many individuals browse this area in search of interesting fiction and non-fiction books to enjoy on their own. Located between the circulation desk and the reading area, the book group shelves are stocked with many popular titles such as Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory and Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. Groups can request titles by completing a form which is available at the reference desk. For more information on gaining titles for book groups, call the reference librarians at 762-3950.

There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is suggested.
