Special story time

Children ages 3-5 have a special afternoon story time tomorrow, May 5 from 5-5:30 p.m. While big brothers and sisters are playing sports or engaged in other activities, the little ones can enjoy a special time for themselves. Weir art reception Friday

The art reception for the J. Alden Weir exhibition at the library is Friday, May 5 from 6-7:30 p.m. The "ReCollecting Weir" exhibit showcases three dozen oils, pastels and prints of the American Impressionist Julian Alden Weir (1852-1919) from the National Park Service and private collectors. The reception is open to the public. The exhibition runs through Saturday, May 27 during library hours which are Monday and Friday, 10-6, Tuesday through Thursday 10-7, Saturday, 10-5 and Sunday 1-5. Keeping babies safe

New parents, grandparents and caregivers have an opportunity to learn how to make their homes safe for babies in the library's seminar, Baby Safety and Child Proofing Your Home on Saturday, May 6 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Child safety experts share their knowledge in this informative session and answer questions on how to install products and help solve safety concerns for attendees. Kids toot the horn

The last installment of this season's Norwalk Symphony Family Program (Not) Just for Kids is this Saturday, May 6 from 1-2. Children ages 3-10 and their families will experience brass instruments of the symphony orchestra. There is no charge for the program which is sponsored by The Wilton Bank. New and antique homes discussed

The next two sessions of the Home & Garden series feature new and antique homes. On Tuesday, May 9 local interior design writer Ann Sample Lineberger discusses Adding Character to New Homes. Based on her book, New Spaces, Old World Charm, she shares her thoughts about adding warmth, character and appeal. Local builder David Anspach joins her for the talk. On Thursday, May 11 Andy Payne and William Gould lead the discussion in Restoring, Remodeling or Adding Additions to Antique Homes. Topics include preserving character while meeting 21st century needs; how to best decide to restore, add-on or start new; the realities of owning vintage homes. Both sessions begin at 7 p.m. and will have question and answer periods. The last date and topic for the series is Thursday, May 18 Designer Tips-Staging Homes for Selling and Decorating Solutions. Mother's Day crafts for kids

Children of all ages can drop-in at any time on Tuesday, May 9 through Saturday, May 13 to Create Your Own Mother's Day Memento. Supplies are provided by the library. There is no charge for the craft and registration is not required.

Wilton Library Readers meet

The last session for this season of the Wilton Library Readers takes place on Wednesday, May 10 from noon to 1. Susan Boyar leads the discussion of Howard's End by E. M. Forster. Participants are reminded to bring bag lunches. There is no charge for the program and reservations are not required.

Watershed photography exhibit

The Norwalk River Watershed Photography Exhibit Reception takes place at the library on Wednesday, May 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. The wine reception for the traveling photography exhibit includes a special narrative by photographer Irwin Block, recipient of the 2003 Weir Farm Artist in Residence Award. The exhibit runs through Friday, June 2.
