While the adults are scurrying around with holiday shopping, kids have a day of film fun all their own on Friday, November 24 at the library. The Day After Film Fun will showcase two free movies at 10:30 with Curious George and at 2 with Cars. Children under 5 must be accompanied by adults. Ben Van Vechten leads senior book discussionThe Senior Center Book Discussion takes place on Tuesday, November 28 at 11 a.m. with Ben Van Vechten leading the group in a discussion about Main Street by Sinclair Lewis. The seniors group meets every fourth Tuesday of the month through May, with the exception of December. A luncheon is available after the book talk. Speaker discusses WalesThe International Book Group: Literature of Other Lands meets on Wednesday, November 29 at 7 p.m. to discuss Wales. Documentary photographer wraps up travel seriesDaryl Hawk, renowned international documentary photographer, speaks on Thursday, November 30 at 7 p.m. in the program Distant Journeys with Daryl Hawk. In the last of the library's travel series this month, Mr. Hawk will show a dramatic slide presentation entitled "It's the Journey that Counts." He provides a retrospective of various expeditions and trips undertaken around the globe, including the Canadian Arctic, all of North, Central and South America, Antarctica, New Zealand and the Himalayas and Bhutan. Holiday Walk rings in the seasonWith turkey leftovers a dim memory, people's thoughts now can turn to the holiday gift-giving season. Wilton's Holiday Walk sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and supported by merchants and the library takes place on Friday, December 1 from 5-7 all over town. The library will remain open during the Holiday Walk to provide food and refreshments to patrons and guests. On Sunday, December 3 from 5:30-7:30 the library is hosting its annual Holiday Party for Friends of the Wilton Library. For more information: 762-3950.
Creativity for teensKids in grades 7-12 get to test their creativity in Wreath Making for Teens from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, December 4. Registrants will need to bring greens (evergreens, laurel, etc.), gardening gloves and clippers. The class size is small, so students need to sign up early. There is no charge for the program.
