New extended loan periodsStarting Aug. 1, the library is extending loan periods for new adult fiction books to three weeks. This change will give patrons longer reading times for popular new fiction by as much as two full weeks, in some cases. Previously, new fiction books were loaned out for one, two or three week periods, depending on the length of the books. Along with the new fiction loan periods, checkout time for all VHS videos will be extended to three weeks with no fee for educational and TV series and just $1 for feature films. "With these new loan periods, we're responding to customer requests," said Kathy Leeds, library director. "With the exception of DVDs and circulating magazines, most everything now is on loan for three weeks. Everyone is living at such a fast pace, it's nice to be able to give people more time to enjoy the depth and breadth that the library has to offer in a more leisurely timeframe." Under this new arrangement, music CDs also will be extended to three week loan periods. All feature film DVDs were recently extended to three nights for $1 and one week with no fee for educational and TV series DVDs. For information: 762-3950.
