Shared photos

Michael Franco provides step-by-step instruction in the use of online photo sharing sites in Sharing Your Photos Online, on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. He will explore KodakGallery, Flickr, Shutterfly, Snapfish and others during this demonstration style class. Symphony experience

Children ages 3–10, and their families, get to see, hear and touch the brass instruments when the Norwalk Symphony Family Program (Not) Just for Kids comes to the library on Saturday, May 3, from 2–3 p.m. The program is the last in the series for this season. Connecticut’s Own concert

The Amore Trio performs on Sunday, May 4, from 4–5 p.m. in the last concert of the series for the Connecticut’s Own Sunday concerts. The Trio consists of Henry Mohrer on piano, Celia Weil on violin and Charlottte Moulyn on cello. Their program will include selections from Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Mozart. There is no charge for the concert. Advance registration is recommended and pre-registrants should arrive by 3:50 p.m. to be guaranteed seating. More music and arts

The Wilton Schools Fine and Performing Arts Exhibit has its opening reception on Monday, May 5, from 6–7:30 p.m. The exhibit features over 400 works from students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The reception also includes a musical performance by students. The exhibit runs through Thursday, May 29.

Caring for seniors

Lea Mintz, the community liaison with the Family and Children’s Agency in Norwalk, returns to the library on Tuesday, May 6, from 10:30–noon with the program, Helping Seniors to Remain in Their Own Homes. The discussion is about helping seniors maintain their independence by remaining in their own homes, important for the seniors, and to their children or caregivers. The talk provides tips and strategies for keeping seniors safe and independent at home. There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is suggested. Illustrator visits library

Well-knownd illustrator, Roz Chast, visits the library on Wednesday, May 7, from 7–9 p.m. as a part of the Visiting Author series. Known for her quirky pen-and-ink cartoons in the New Yorker magazine and others, she also has illustrated many children’s books. Her most recent, The Alphabet from A to Y with Bonus Letter Z!, was co-authored with celebrated comedian, actor and writer, Steve Martin. She also introduces Theories of Everything: Selected, Collected and Health-Inspected Cartoons, 1978-2006. Books will be available for purchase and signing following the talk, provided by the Wilton Open Book Shop. There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is recommended. Mother’s Day events

Children of all ages can drop-in any time on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9 to create their own Mother’s Day crafts. The crafts are free, no registration is required, and materials are supplied by the library. On Saturday, May 10, from 2–3 p.m., Daryl Beyers, assistant editor of Fine Gardening magazine, returns to the library with a program for kids ages 5–8 entitled Gardening for Children—a Plant for Mother. Kids will learn a little bit about gardening and then plant seeds and decorate pots for Mother’s Day gifts. There is no charge for the program. Advance registration is required.
