Summer Music & More Concert
Outstanding jazz singer Cynthia McCorkindale and Cafe Musette will wrap up
the popular courtyard concert series Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m. Join us
for free food and drinks and fabulous music compliments of the Village Market,
sponsors of this well attended series of five shows. Stop by and see the new "flag
sculpture" by Rick Parisot that was recently installed on the Library's front
lawn, too. If the day is hot, we'll turn on the sprinkler near the flag for
the kids - old and young - to run through! Don't miss this last of the season
family event.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, BLUEFISH!!!!
A Bridgeport Bluefish baseball player will arrive at the Library on Wednesday,
August 7th at 11:00 a.m. to read a favorite story or two. Children aged pre-school
through 5th grade are urged to attend. There is no charge for the program,
but advance registration is advised - call 762-3950 to put your name on the
list! Each participating child will receive a free voucher to a Bluefish game,
so come, enjoy, and PLAY BALL!

Expansion News
Surveys returned by more than 1,000 Wilton families set their priorities for
the expansion, putting more space for children's and teens' areas and a better
equipped and enlarged community room at the top of the list. Close behind were
the proposed drive up window for book reserve pick up and the drop off of returns
and more comfortable seating for reading magazines and newspapers. Responders
ranged from very frequent users of the Library to those who don't use it at
all and results were tabulated by age of respondent (no, young parents really
aren't that interested in the "large print" area, though seniors answering
the survey certainly were!), among other indices. Look for more conclusions
as the results are analyzed and individual comments (thanks to those of you
who took the time to give us your opinions) are grouped. We are listening,
Wilton, and your Library of the future will reflect your priorities - absolutely.

Save the Date: September 22nd
"That's a Wrap," the Library's 3rd annual Ladies' Night fund raiser, will take
place on Sunday, September 22nd this year. Those who attended "Old Bag Night" and
Baubles, Bangles and Beads in previous years know what sort of a terrific time
is in store as they bid in the silent auction, listen to the music of Al Galletly
played on a grand piano imported to the Library lobby for just this occasion,
and enjoy the tasty food and drink provided by restaurant owner and Library Trustee
Andy Pforzheimer and his able assistant, Trustee Jane Lee. The company and conversation
can't be beat - bring your charge card or your checkbook and bid the night away.

The 58th Annual Summer Art Exhibition
The 58th annual summer art exhibition continues through August with over 70
Wilton artists represented. Stop by to cool off and enjoy the tremendous talent
of your friends and neighbors before the month is out. The Library is open
Mondays and Fridays from 10-6, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10-
7, and Saturdays from 10-5. You can shop as well - almost all of the artwork
displayed is for sale, with 20% of the purchase price going to fund the Library's
collection of books on art and art instruction. There are some incredible bargains
waiting for you - come on down!

Book Group Books - Save September 18th!
Are you a member of a book discussion group? Would you rather borrow than buy
your copy of the book to be discussed? Please join us for a breakfast September
18th at the Library from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. to hear about a new program we
are launching to make sure those copies are available here. Call (762-3950)
to reserve your spot and bring along any reading lists your group may have
for the coming months. It's sure to be fun - and delicious - and we will cap
it off with a behind the scenes tour of the building and a bit of talk about
our plans for expansion.
